Weekend Things-

The weekend in review:

Friday- work, workout (elliptical + pull up machine)- then doggie cuddles and burgers.  Mike made an appetizer that is he is going to write up- who wants HEALTHY General Tsao’s Cauliflower????  I loved it.  I might have eaten a half a head of cauliflower!

What can I say? I love it.

Friday night dinner: Farm share beef- grass fed- with blue cheese and mushrooms and roasted jalapenos (and the usual- ketchup, onion, tomato, and lettuce!)

I INHALED that burger!

Saturday:

Saturday I attacked the elliptical- and I am SORE?! —> this is new.

By attacked-  I did a workout that (when I was coached), my coach gave me- for 90 sec, on 85% of max resistance, GO!  Then, 2 minutes normal.  If your resistance is appropriate, this is not a joke.

Meanwhile, Mike and Isaac went to puppy class:

Isaac goes to puppy class, He is the biggest. Strange: He is not crazed during open play, but the moment he needs to stay still with us- IT IS HIS WORST TIME EVER. WIGGLES.
Isaac goes to puppy class! He is the biggest pup there.
Part of Saturday dinner- farro "risotto" (cooked in carrot juice) with morels and peas, and seared scallops. As good as it sounds. Needs a couple of tweaks and I'll post it!

For foods, we had date night in- and I cooked up a STORM.  I made a few cool things, but our favorite was “risotto” made with farro-  I cooked the grain in carrot juice to mimic “peas and carrots”, threw some large scallops on top- served with a buttery chardonnay- and DIED.  I need to make it again before I post it (so it’s perfect)- but it was such a “spring” dish I just  can’t wait.

Sunday:

I ran 7 miles!  It wasn’t perfect, and my foot was definitely sore during parts of the run- but not terrible.  After, I went on a shopping spree at Runner’s Alley. Decisions decisions!  I nearly went with a pair of Brooks instead my my usual Asics- but I stuck with my old favorites-  no need to rock the boat just yet.  As I said, this is  a “ramp back up” week- so today (Monday) is a non-running day.  I will run every other day this week, and then next week will build on that (reverse taper).

Shopping! May have bought 2 pairs for myself... Mike got a pair.... I got a vest and a jacket (who can say no to a 50% of winter items sale when it is still blizzarding?)

Later we had a bunch of friends over for Sunday dinner at our house- the kids in our friend group met Isaac for the first time- it was good :)  Samson and Isaac are fast friends.

Another shot, this one with the wheat thins. They win! Blog post soon on those :)
Appetizers!  Homemade wheat thins, mushroom pate, cheeses, etc.
Pickled blackberry and raspberry salad with toasted almonds, parmesan shavings, and fresh raspberries. SO GOOD.

No one took pics of the amazing dessert!  ahh!  My BFF Sarah made homemade ice cream and brownies :)  Also not pictured was our awesome beef roast!  I guess that means we were having a blast.

And just one more of our furry baby:

  1. Love the first two pictures! I miss the puppy phase. Mine makes himself comfortable on me all the time. Actually I think he’s trying to push me out of the good spot 😉

What a beautiful day all of you had together! So proud of Isaac, he is being such a good boy going to school with his Dad and behaving well around baby Samson. Can’t wait to see you all again!
