Friday! Boston Bib # and Workout Recap

Later today we may have a Guy Day Friday post- but for now- all I have to say is this:marathon bib

I am so grateful to the BAA for inviting the runners who did not cross the finish line last year to run again.  I am also grateful I got to use my previous qualifying time.

OH!  And the quickest of workout recaps-

My mileage has been low- but each run has been better than the last.

Last week I ran 6,7,6 and 17.5 for a total of 36.5 miles.  I also road the arc trainer for periods of 1 hr, 2 hrs, and 1 hr for a total of 4 hours of cross training.

This week:

Monday- 6 miles outside extremely sluggish (but not shamefully so)- 51 minutes
Tuesday- 6 miles outside progression- 8:50, 8:30, 8:18, 8:10, 7:58, 7:23.  Not as fast as I would like, but you can never beat negative splits!
Wednesday- 2 hours arc trainer, cardio setting, level 10
Thursday- 7 miles, treadmill, 8:34 pace
Friday and Saturday- up in the air.  One of the days will be rest, the other will be 9-10 miles.  Depends on schedule, etc.s

Sunday-  PADDY’s 5 MILER!  I plan on racing at full effort- we shall see if I embarrass myself or not.  A few weeks ago I would have felt pretty confident that I could sustain a 6:4X pace, now not as much.

Next week- planned mileage will be about 45-50 miles.  Back at it!

  1. I cannot wait for this year’s boston marathon. I’m not going personally but I have a lot of friends who are and it is going to be a beautiful experience.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. I checked my bib number /corral last night and I am wave 4…starting at 11:25

  3. Good luck this weekend! Your pace sounds ridiculously fast compared to my slow pace!! I don’t think I could be that fast in my dreams!

I never knew I could run “fast” until I tried… I am still not as fast as I was pre-injuries- or nearly as fast as some- but I am going to do my best! Thanks!

  4. Yay!!!! I’m 14186, wave 2 corral 6. We will have to wave in passing :-) Good luck with your training, the countdown is officialy ON!

    • kristina says:

That’s almost exactly my wave/corral/bib# from last year! Shows how much more competitive the field has gotten. Countdown IS on!

I am in Wave 2 Corral 7! We are so close!

I’m sure you will do fine in the 5 miler. You would kill me at short races…. there’s no way I could sustain a 6:4x or even 6:5x pace during a 5 miler! I can barely manage that for a 5K! I HATE short races, they are so painful. Good luck :)

    • kristina says:

Ahh we are so close! I agree that short races are painful- but my mantra is usually “this is only 20 minutes of my life” or in this case “this is only 30ish minutes of my life”… I am hoping for <35 minutes. I would LOVE close to my PR for the distance- but we will see!
